Our Leaders
Todd Murphy | Lead Pastor
Todd came to the faith
at the age of 19 after growing up in the skateboarding indie-punk
culture of the 80’s. He lives with his beautiful wife Christine and
six healthy boys, Judah, Anson, Keegan, Aiden, Cailan, and Rowan in a suburb
of Providence. Todd is an accomplished Bible teacher with an BA in
Biblical studies and MA in Hebrew Bible studies from Trinity
Evangelical Divinity School. He has also taught biblical studies for
the department of Philosophy and Religion at Western Kentucky
University, and is the author of the Pocket Dictionary for the Study of
Biblical Hebrew (InterVarsity Press, 2003). When not writing, preaching
or teaching, he can often be found playing Xbox with his sons or
surfing with Judah. Once in a while you might even still catch him
skateboarding.
Travis Mullen | Pastor: Social Ministry & Community Engagement
Travis grew up in Arizona, and came to a more direct response to the gospel in Jr. High. After becoming a committed follower of Jesus at age 17, he’s been pursuing God ever since. God has guided him to more and more responsibilities as he took each step towards serving God more with his life. He now lives in the West End of Providence with his wife Jyll and son Teagan. His wife Jyll is an artist and works in her studio in their home, doing art shows, freelance, etsy and commissions. Travis majored in Biblical Studies and continued his education for 2 years at Phoenix Seminary. In 2003, he moved to California to start a college/twentysomethings ministry called The Movement at Crossroads Community Church in Camarillo. After three awesome years there, God lead the Mullens to church plant in Providence, RI in 2006. They have been here now for 3.5 years, serving the city, making disciples, building relationships with many people who are outside of the church, and working hard to engage the culture through arts and social ministry. The Mullens love going to the beach, parks, camping and having people over. Teagan’s favorite things are dancing, legos, playing in dirt, wrestling like luchadors, darth vader and the storm troopers.
Corey Auger | Pastor: Worship and Discipleship
Corey and his wife Yarie are both native Rhode Islanders. At the age of 13, Corey was literally dragged to a local church by his mom and then dragged out of the car by the youth pastor. Thankfully, that day changed the rest of his life. It was there that he heard the Gospel and encountered the love of Christ for the first time. Since then, Corey has had a passion for the Gospel and for people. Feeling a huge burden for youth culture, he began volunteering as a youth leader at a local church in 1999. Both he and Yarie ministered to a handful of youth-groupers in a large city for about three years. Then, Corey was offered a full-time ministry position serving as Youth Pastor back at his home church in West Warwick. While serving there, Corey began to feel an incredible burden to pastor and possibly plant a church. Six years later, it was then that God undeniably led him to help serve the church plant that is Sacred Journey Church. Corey is currently enrolled at Liberty University working towards his degree in Biblical Studies. His passions include: music, playing guitar, songwriting, reading, speaking, kayaking, mountain biking, camping and pretty much anything REI. His wife Yarie’s interests include food, music, theatre, museums, traveling, painting, writing, singing, photography and all kinds of art. Corey and Yarie have been married 8 years and they have 3 spunky boys to prove it. They plan to make Providence their home soon and look forward to living where their mission is.
